Rambling thoughts of a Yankee transplanted to the south.

Parasailing in January?

Parasailing in Janaury?

Today was a beautiful day in southern Alabama and a good day for exploring. We try to get to the beach whenever we have a good day.

Since I am from the frozen tundra of Ohio, it is quite a sight to see someone parasailing on the Gulf on January 11th. But that is the sight that greeted my family and I today as we took a walk on the beach looking for shells. He had a wetsuit on and it looked like a lot of fun even it was windy and 70 degrees. If I had a wetsuit, I might have asked to try it!

We even saw a goofy group of college girls in bikinis run into the Gulf and splash around. I am not sure if adult beverages were involved, but it was a little too cold for swimming without any wetsuit. However, they did get the attention of a couple of guys, so maybe this was their intention in the first place. Maybe the girls managed to snap free dinners tonight :0

I can’t say I am missing the cold weather because I am not. Days like today are why we moved down here. The beach wasn’t crowded and people talk to you as they walk along the shore. Can’t do that right now in Ohio.
